Concert Program

Beyond the premiere of the Helmcamp Concerto, the concert will include the following works (partial and preliminary list) performed by the Golden Pride of Cleburne High, under the direction of Jason Jones:

  • Klaxon, Henry Fillmore (1881-1956)
  • Carmina Burana, Carl Orff (1895-1982)
  • Selections from Les Misérables, Claude-Michel Schönberg (1944-)

Several of these pieces are associated with Helmcamp – he programmed Carmina several times, beginning in 1976 at UIL Concert competition, and finally on the football field in 1987, winning the Governor’s Cup; he used Klaxon several times in UIL Concert competition, and used Les Misérables as the basis for a UIL Marching competition show in 1990, as well as conducting the orchestra as recently as 2015 for a Carnegie Summer Musical performance.
